Kerri Walsh Jennings’ p1440 Launches Virtual Summer Camp, 2020

El Segundo, California, May 15, 2020 – The news that traditional summer camps and some boot camps and gyms are closed this summer due to COVID precautions has left students, parents, and athletes stranded. Today, p1440, the digital media company founded by five-time Olympic Volleyball player Kerri Walsh Jennings to elevate the sport of volleyball, is launching the Virtual Summer Camp to give them an exciting and challenging alternative.

Registration for p1440 camps is open at camp. Course offerings are available through the end of August.
More than just another Zoom class, the p1440 virtual programs inspire campers to get outside and breathe, using video-based drills created by world-class coaches and athletes following the method and philosophy honed by Kerri Walsh Jennings and her trainers. And a community component allows campers to interact with each other and get direct interaction with the camp Directors, including Kerri herself.

“In the Summer of 2020, people are looking for alternative programs,” said Jennings. “Our virtual camps give athletes of all ages daily guidance and inspiration, a community of fellow campers, and access to world-class coaches answering their questions and cheering their accomplishments every day.”

Two courses are offered: “The Fundamentals” and “Unleashed.” In addition to videos of fun and challenging drills that can be done at home, each day’s program includes mindfulness training and guidance from the experts on topics including nutrition, diet, and recovery.
Jennings and her p1440 team decided to launch the summer programming after seeing the success of a pilot offering of The Fundamentals. The program sold out an initial 250 spots in less than one week and campers immediately asked for more camps for themselves and friends.

The programs, which can be taken individually or paired as a sequence, are:

  • The Fundamentals a four-week program consisting of daily (Monday – Friday) videos demonstrating drills, strength training and mindfulness; and personal interaction with coaches, other trainers, and Kerri via a private community. Campers usually spend up to two hours completing a daily course, fitting it into the day according to their own schedules. The program has been enjoyed by kids in middle school and high school as well as by adults looking to build strength and stamina.
  • Unleashed, a three-week program scheduled to launch June 1st will focus on physical conditioning and wellbeing. Featuring strength programming designed by Kerri’s trainer of 20 years, Tommy Knox, this course is an incredible primer for the tournament (summer) season.

Each course costs $250 per session, but early-bird registrants who sign up one-week before the onset of each session, receive pricing of $200 as well as guaranteed access since courses do sell out. There is also a “family” offering: two campers signing up at the same time and on the same credit card get a rate of $375 in total.

Campers who have already experienced “Fundamentals” have loved it. Campers have many motivations, with this illustrating one experience:

“For me, the program has really kicked me in the butt to get started working out again and caring about my diet. I had put a little over 20 lbs since COVID started and so for me, this was a way to kickstart me back into reality. I’ve taken off 10 now and look forward to losing the rest of the weight and more before this program ends. I guess I would say that this program is for anyone because even though it focuses on Volleyball, it’s more about mindset and loving yourself. You can’t be your best without focusing on your inner self. Thanks again.”
